Introducing David Shepherd
Our design business consultant, David Shepherd, is now an author as well. In 2006, I was selected as a member of an elite group of interior design firms from across the country - the Better Practices Network (BPN), which was established by David Shepherd. The BPN selects 100 non-competitive professional designers nationally who receive training and share business practices with other members of the BPN throughout the year to learn new ways to be more effective with clients, builders and architects.
David's profession is entrepreneurship. He has founded and managed four small businesses and written a book focused on small business owners, Your Business or Your Life, an eight-step workshop for getting all you want out of both.
As a consultant to small businesses, David became fascinated with the complexity of the interior design profession. He founded Designing Profits, Inc. to focus on the financial success of interior design professionals. Designing Profits sponsors annual conferences for professional designers throughout the US for the purpose of promoting better business practices. I attended my first annual conference in 2005 and look forward to the next one in September 2008.

Not only is David a valued business associate, he has become a dear friend and I'm happy to announce, a literary author too. David has recently achieved a life-long dream of publishing Resurrecting Randi, an intriguing story which centers around a college professor and a troubled student who struggle to figure out if life is worth living. The book offers a valuable, redeeming message of hope as the story unfolds. This is my kind of reading!
